Ducking Stool

I've seen rigging that has been worn
Met it's rugged end on deck, at dawn, and I came
There were nooses tempting exits
But I kept netting scores, though petal pathways formed

I see futures of highways, mindless nights eating out the grey,
mapping out the right way

And you say
the perfect lines the wrong time
And I can't keep it away
Perfect lines
Wrong time
I can't keep it away

Only a phantom fear
Fool's gold.

I saw witches in their wake
drowned and deviled by mistake and I took part
Now they're re-born as mermaids
The perfect crime, the wrong time
And now you're making me pay
The perfect crime, wrong time
You can't make me pay

Only a phantom fear
Fool's gold.
